The historic general store opened in 1898 and has evolved into a summertime institution for locals and tourists alike. In its latest iteration, The Holbrook Store, this charming country store celebrates Maine goods, local craft beer, tradition, and whimsy. Visit by land or sea. Watch lobster boats on the harbor while enjoying a meal at Harborside Grill, with a drink from The Holbrook Store, for an authentic Maine experience. The Holbrook Store is fun for the whole family, and all are welcome!
Please note that there are two short steps to enter the store, and it is not wheelchair accessible.
BEER AND WINE With a vast selection of curated Maine beers and a careful few domestic specials, an array of wines and other adult beverages, customers are encouraged to purchase alcohol at The Holbrook Store to enjoy down at Harborside Grill.
TREATS The Holbrook Store proudly carries local, small-batch ice cream made by Maplewood Farm in Cumberland. We do not scoop cups or cones, but customers may grab-and-go ice cream from the cooler, or order a float, sundae, or iced coffee from our creative and classic menu. Choose from a nostalgic collection of penny candies and other local confections.
The Holbrook Store serves Hankering Pie Co. pie slices and tarts until sold out. We also have Freshwater Baking Co. loaves, from Friday until sold out.
TREASURES Explore an eclectic assortment of local goods and thrifted oddities, housewares, and other doodads and gifts. With an ever-updating selection of merchandise, featuring an array of local artists, customers delight in sifting through trinkets, pottery, art, and souvenirs.
PROPRIETOR Liza Rowland is the proprietor of The Holbrook Store Limited Company and Shopkeeper. She reopened the general store as The Holbrook Store on May 10, 2025. Liza is the recipient of the Bath-Brunswick Regional Chamber's 2026 Community Leadership Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship for her work at The Holbrook Store. She lives year-round on Bailey Island.
